Is the Indian Stock Market Open Today?

If you’re wondering whether the stock market is operating today, you can easily find out by checking the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) website for the list of holidays in 2024.

April’s Days Off: In April 2024, the stock market is scheduled to close on two days. You can see these dates and an image on the BSE website.

As the country celebrates Eid-Ul-Fitr, some people might be unsure if the stock market is open. The best way to find out is to go to the BSE’s official website — www.bseindia.com, and look at the holiday list for 2024. You can also directly visit https://www.bseindia.com/static/markets/marketinfo/listholi.aspx to see the entire list of days the market will be closed this year, for easier access.

Is the Market Trading Today?

According to the BSE’s list of holidays for 2024, the Indian stock market is closed today, Thursday, for Gudi Padwa. This means there will be no trading in the market today. The holiday list shows that there are two days off in April 2024 — today, the 11th, and the 17th.

After Eid, the next holiday is on April 17th for Ram Navami, which means the trading week will be shorter next week. After Ram Navami, there are no more holidays in April.

May’s Holidays

Originally, May had only one holiday on the 1st for Maharashtra Day. However, due to the Lok Sabha elections, another day off has been added on May 20th. So, there are two holidays in May 2024.

In June and July, the stock market will close for one day each month. In June, the market will be closed on the 17th for Bakri Eid, and in July, it will close on the 17th for Muharram.
