Dubai Unveils Game-Changer: 5-Year Multiple-Entry Visa for Indians to Boost Tourism

Dubai, renowned for its dazzling skyline and cultural richness, is set to revolutionise travel between India and the Gulf nation with the introduction of a groundbreaking five-year multiple-entry visa. The move, spearheaded by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), aims to foster sustained economic collaborations, encourage tourism, and strengthen business ties between the two nations.

Record-Breaking Indian Visitors

In a spectacular revelation, the DET disclosed that Dubai witnessed a staggering 25% increase in overnight visitors from India in 2023, totaling a remarkable 2.46 million. This surge firmly positioned India as the number one source market, showcasing a resilient 34% year-on-year growth. In comparison, the city hosted 1.84 million Indian tourists in the previous year, and 1.97 million in 2019, underscoring India’s consistent dominance in contributing to Dubai’s thriving tourism sector.

Features of the 5-Year Multiple-Entry Visa

The DET affirmed that the newly introduced visa allows its holder to stay in Dubai for 90 days, with the possibility of extension for an additional 90 days, making the total stay not exceed 180 days in a year. The visa, issued within a swift 2-5 working days upon receiving and accepting the service request, facilitates multiple entries and exits. This operational flexibility is poised to benefit tourists engaging in business endeavours, leisure travel, and seamless connectivity.

Elevating Dubai’s Status in Business and Tourism

Bader Ali Habib, Regional Head of Proximity Markets at Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, expressed enthusiasm about this historic milestone initiative. He emphasised that beyond providing Indian tourists with a longer and more enriching experience, the visa also serves as a catalyst for increased economic collaboration. Habib highlighted India’s pivotal role in achieving the goals of the D33 Agenda, reinforcing Dubai’s status as a hub for business, investment, and tourism.

Dubai’s Growth Trajectory

Dubai’s commitment to enhancing flight connectivity and its strategic initiatives geared towards the Indian market underline the city’s determination to remain the top travel choice for Indian tourists. With an impressive 19.4% growth in international overnight visitors in 2023, reaching 17.15 million, according to DET data, Dubai is poised for continued success as a global tourism hub. The introduction of the five-year multiple-entry visa is expected to amplify awareness about Dubai’s diverse offerings, multicultural setting, and abundance of hotels and attractions, further solidifying its allure for Indian travellers.
