Lok Sabha Election Nomination Frenzy Begins: Bihar Deadline Extension Sparks Interest

The hustle for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections is underway as the nomination process for 102 parliamentary constituencies across 21 states and Union territories kicks off. The Election Commission, acting on behalf of the President, has set March 27 as the deadline for filing nomination papers.

However, in Bihar, a slight deviation is observed due to a festival, extending the nomination deadline to March 28 for the seats going to polls in the first phase. With four out of the 40 seats in Bihar up for grabs in this phase, candidates have until April 2 to withdraw their candidature.

Scrutiny of nomination papers is scheduled for March 28, while Bihar’s scrutiny will take place on March 30. Meanwhile, the deadline for candidates withdrawal is on March 20, except for Bihar, and now it’s extended to April 2.

Mark the day in calendars as the electoral marathon for the 18th Lok Sabha commenced on April 19, followed by subsequent phases on April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25, and June 1. The voting counting day is set for June 4.

The election spans across many states including Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra,, along with Lakshadweep and Puducherry, where the polling would be conducted in the first phase. Hoping the best for our nation.
