The Noida Traffic Police have issued a traffic advisory in anticipation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Greater Noida for the inauguration of Semicon India 2024, a three-day event focused on the semiconductor industry.
The Gautam Buddh Nagar Traffic Police have announced significant traffic changes for September 11 due to the high-profile event. To manage expected traffic disruptions, several routes will be diverted and alternate routes suggested to ensure smooth travel. According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), Modi is scheduled to arrive at the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida around 10:30 a.m.
At the Semicon India 2024 event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasised that now is the right time for global investment in India, particularly in the semiconductor industry. Addressing the gathering at the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida, PM Modi stated, ‘In the 21st century, the chips are never down in India. The world can bet on India when the chips are down.’
The three-day event showcases India’s growing role in the semiconductor sector, with the government prioritising infrastructure development and policy stability to attract investors. PM Modi announced the creation of an 85,000-strong workforce dedicated to the semiconductor industry, including engineers, technicians, and R&D experts.
He also stressed the importance of semiconductor chips in powering India’s Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), which remained resilient during the COVID-19 pandemic, even as banking systems in other countries struggled. PM Modi highlighted the nation’s “3-D power” — reformist governance, a robust manufacturing base, and a vast aspirational market — positioning India as a global semiconductor leader.
With India’s semiconductor market projected to reach $80.3 billion by 2028, the event reinforces the government’s commitment to establishing the country as a major player in global semiconductor manufacturing.
