Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Jammu this Tuesday, marking the commencement of several significant development projects with a combined value of 30,500 crore. These initiatives span various sectors such as education, railways, aviation, and roadways, aiming to boost the region’s growth and connectivity.
A highlight of the visit includes the inauguration of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Vijaypur, a state-of-the-art healthcare facility established to provide comprehensive medical services to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. This institute, part of the ‘Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana’, represents a significant investment in the health sector, with facilities including a 720-bed hospital, medical and nursing colleges, and an AYUSH block.
In addition to healthcare, the Prime Minister will focus on enhancing educational infrastructure by inaugurating new campuses for prestigious institutions like IIT Bhilai, IIT Tirupati, and IIM Jammu. These campuses will serve as hubs for advanced learning and research, contributing to the nation’s educational prowess.
The visit will also see the launch of the first electric train service in the Valley, signifying a leap towards sustainable transportation. This service will link Sangaldan and Baramulla stations, featuring India’s longest transportation tunnel, T-50, which promises an improved travel experience through its ballast less track technology.
Moreover, Modi will lay the foundation stone for a new terminal building at Jammu Airport, designed to accommodate 2,000 passengers during peak hours with modern, eco-friendly facilities. This development is part of broader efforts to enhance civic infrastructure and public facilities in Jammu and Kashmir, with additional projects worth over Rs 3,150 crore being initiated.
The visit underscores the government’s commitment to fostering development and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir, with a particular focus on education, healthcare, and infrastructure, ensuring a brighter future for the region’s residents.
