Taxpayers Alert: Secure Your ITR Refund Faster with This Simple Step

Date:

The tax season is here, and it’s time for taxpayers to act swiftly to ensure a speedy refund. Filing income tax returns for the fiscal year 2023-24 and assessment year 2024-25 has commenced, emphasising the need for timely action from all tax-paying individuals. Even those in the salaried class, subject to 10 percent TDS deductions, can reclaim it through ITR filing.

Filing your returns is just the beginning; to expedite your refund, there’s one more crucial step you can’t afford to overlook: e-verification. According to experts, failing to complete this step will render your ITR incomplete, delaying your refund.

The Income Tax Department mandates completing e-verification within 120 days of filing your return. Failure to do so means forfeiting your refund. Fortunately, the process is straightforward and can be done via multiple avenues such as Demat accounts, Aadhaar, ATM, net banking, or Digital Signature Certificate (DSC).

Here’s a quick guide to complete your e-verification:

  • Visit the e-filing portal: https://www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal/.
  • Log in using your user ID and password.
  • Navigate to the e-file menu and select e-verification.
  • Choose your PAN number, assessment year, input the receipt number of the filed ITR, and provide your mobile number.
  • Select your preferred e-verification mode.
  • Complete the e-verification through any of the provided options.
  • Upon successful verification, expect a confirmation message along with your transaction ID.

Don’t let your refund linger; ensure timely e-verification to fast-track your ITR refund process. Remember, swift action means a quicker refund in your account.
