Uttarakhand has taken decisive action against Patanjali Ayurveda Ltd and Divya Pharmacy, suspends licenses of 14 Patanjali products due to repeated violations of the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954. The state licensing authority issued an immediate cancellation order, citing persistent breaches of the regulatory framework.

The rejected products include:

In response to the violations, the District Ayurvedic and Unani Officer in Haridwar has filed a criminal complaint against Swami Ramdev, Acharya Balkrishna, Divya Pharmacy, and Patanjali Ayurved Limited under relevant sections of the Act.

This move comes after the Supreme Court’s intervention, which directed Patanjali to issue a public apology of equal size to its advertisements in newspapers. However, the apex court deferred contempt proceedings against Patanjali founders Ramdev and Balkrishna due to their failure to submit an affidavit regarding the public apology.

During the proceedings, the Supreme Court also questioned the Indian Medical Association (IMA) about the endorsement of medicines by allopathic doctors, highlighting the need for scrutiny across the healthcare sector.

The next hearing on this matter is scheduled for Tuesday, indicating the gravity of the situation and the ongoing legal battle surrounding the issue. As the controversy unfolds, stakeholders and consumers alike await further developments in this high-profile case.
