Delhi Earthquake: Residents Report Loud "Boom" Sound

A 4.0 magnitude earthquake hit Delhi, shaking the national capital and nearby areas. Residents reported hearing a loud "boom" along with the tremors.

The earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of 5 km, which led to the booming sound. Shallow-focus quakes generate seismic waves that turn into sound waves.

According to experts, the closer the epicenter is to the surface, the stronger the vibrations and the louder the sound produced during an earthquake.

Delhi falls in Seismic Zone IV, which has high earthquake activity. The region frequently experiences tremors due to the collision of tectonic plates.

Residents shared their experiences, with some mistaking the tremors for a bridge collapse. CCTV footage also captured the earthquake’s impact across the city.

Authorities assured there were no casualties. Delhi Police urged people to call 112 for emergencies. Stay prepared and follow safety measures during tremors.
