Indian Coast Guard Day is observed on February 1 to honour the brave protectors of India’s coastline. In 2025, we celebrate the 49th ICG Day! #CoastGuardDay

The Indian Coast Guard was formed on Feb 1, 1977, to combat smuggling and protect India’s maritime borders. It started with just 7 ships and has grown significantly.

ICG plays a crucial role in safeguarding India's coastal regions, preventing illegal activities, and ensuring maritime security in collaboration with the Navy and police.

ICG operates across 9 states and 2 territories, with bases in Gandhinagar, Chennai, and Kolkata. It is the world’s 4th largest Coast Guard force. #IndianCoastGuard
