Maha to Supply 100% Green Energy for Irrigation by 2026

By March 2026, Maharashtra will be the first state to supply 100% green energy for irrigation, shifting to solar power for agricultural pumps.

MSEDCL has awarded contracts under MSKVY 2.0 for 16,000 MW solar power to reduce the ₹13,500 crore cross-subsidy burden on industrial consumers.

With 4.74 million agricultural consumers, pending electricity dues of ₹65,565 crore impact MSEDCL’s balance sheet. Solar energy aims to ease this burden.

New solar power projects will supply energy at ₹2.69-₹3.10/unit, cutting costs and reducing industrial tariffs over five years.

MSEDCL plans to invest ₹65,000 crore in power distribution and add 45,000 MW capacity, boosting Maharashtra’s trillion-dollar economy dream.

This green energy shift will create 7 lakh jobs and save on transmission costs, making Maharashtra’s power sector more sustainable and efficient.
