The Production of the ‘Ramayana’ Film Has Been Halted Due to Copyright Issues

Nitish Tiwari’s ‘Ramayana’ filming faces delays from costume reworking to copyright issues. Filming expected to resume in three weeks amid scheduling conflicts. The filming of ‘Ramayana’ began earlier this year but has faced numerous challenges. The project has experienced multiple halts since its commencement. Initially, filming paused for costume reworking and meticulous look adjustments. Subsequently, the production faced a significant shift when Madhu Mantena exited the project, requesting a halt until he received appropriate compensation.

Recent developments indicate another pause due to copyright infringement issues. According to a report by Mid-Day, ‘Filming continued for a few days after the notice but has been on hold since last week. The legalities need to be sorted out, and filming will only resume after a consensus is reached on the matter.’

Despite these setbacks, sources from the production house assure that the project is not shelved, expecting shooting to resume within three weeks. Scheduling conflicts are cited as another challenge, with Ranbir Kapoor poised to start filming for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Love and War’ and Sunny Deol beginning ‘Border 2.’

In this highly anticipated film, Ranbir Kapoor will portray Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi will play Sita, Yash is rumoured to be cast as Ravana, and Sunny Deol will take on the role of Hanuman. News18 reports that the working title of the film is ‘God Power.’ Pinkvilla adds that ‘Ramayana’ is envisioned as a two-part film due to its epic scale, with parts filmed concurrently and a six-month gap between releases. The film’s music will feature a collaboration between Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman.

To prevent leaks, the filmmakers have covered the sets with curtains after paparazzi revealed pictures from the sets, ensuring secrecy around the characters’ looks and stills.
